SAT Practice App: Build a Useful Daily Routine

A practice app is most useful when it helps you decide what to do today and remember what you learned. Build a routine around a skill you need, not just a streak or a question count.

Start here

Make your next step specific.

Choose a short session you can finish with an explanation of one thing you learned. Add volume only when you can review the answers thoughtfully.

Start from a real weakness

Use a recent test or practice result to select one skill. “Solve linear equations with fractions” is a usable target; “improve Math” is too broad for a daily session.

Separate answering from help

Try the problem independently before opening a hint. Write down whether you solved it alone, needed help, or copied a worked example. These are different signals for tomorrow’s practice.

Return after a gap

Schedule another attempt using a fresh question. An answer you remember from yesterday is less informative than solving a new problem that uses the same idea.

Put it into practice

A sample 20-minute session

01

Minutes 0–3: recall

Without opening your notes, explain yesterday’s method or rule. Check the explanation, then pick today’s target. These timings are a suggested routine, not a requirement or an app timer.

02

Minutes 3–12: work

Answer a small set carefully. Mark uncertainty and save explanations until after an independent attempt. Stop adding questions if a missing concept keeps blocking you.

03

Minutes 12–20: review

Explain one error, solve a related question, and write a concrete next step. If you cannot explain the correction yet, make learning that concept the next session’s task.

A working checklist

My session is complete when…

Use this during your session. These checkmarks are a temporary worksheet and are not saved to your Dolphin progress.

Common questions

Should I take a full test every day?

This routine is intended for focused work between full-length checkpoints. Reserve enough time to review a test before scheduling another; otherwise you may collect scores without addressing the reasons behind them.

Does a streak prove improvement?

A streak records participation. Check improvement with independent work on fresh questions and comparable full-length practice conditions. Neither a streak nor a single high score guarantees a future result.
